Trail Vegas….while at Camp Vegas for Summer Camp

Curious???? Check out Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Center…..or tune back here in a day or two and learn more.  Camp Vegas…..an adult Summer Camp.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/photos/2010/apr/29/71935/

Las Vegas is promoting Vegas as Camp for Grown-ups this summer…..all centered around pool parties and pool time.  May we suggest hittng the trails early in the morning for a run. hike, or bike ride then hit the pools mid-day for coolness.  Bring your bike or rent one locally for a fun day on the trail.  Vegas gets hotter each hour the sun is up so during summer camp in Vegas we suggest trail time early….even befor the sun comes up.  Of course Vegas is known for being the hottest after the sun goes down.

Remember “CAMP VEGAS – FOR GROWN-UPS” ….

Jogging and Running on the River Mountains Loop Trail

September 30, 2009 -

Are you a runner or a jogger?  I don’t know the difference but the River Mountains Loop Trail is a great place to do both.  When I’m walking the trail I see a fair amount of joggers/runners using the trail.  I know that several local track clubs use the trail for races and practice runs.  We have marathon events all through the year using various portions of the trail for 5-K and 10-k runs.  I believe there is something for everyone’s running tastes on the 35-mile loop be it hills, flat land, curves or great views.

If you haven’t discovered the trail yet give a try soon.  There are locations and times which get heavy use, but there is 35-miles to spread out over so give it a run.

  • Pumpkinman triathlon – 4th year 2009
  • Calico Racing 5K-10K various runs
  • Iron Girl marathon – 2nd year 2009

Boulder City Celebrates Completion of Loop Trail – B.C. News

Oct. 29, 2009 – The following is from the last issue of the B.C. News; but can be found in the L.V. Sun also. Headline is a little mis-leading as we celebrated the completion of Boulder City’s portion of the River Mountains Loop Trail. We still have a 2.5 mile section between mile marker 8.5 and mile marker 11 to complete by late summer 2010.

Completion of loop trail celebrated

More than 30 people took a train ride and a brisk stroll Oct. 17 to celebrate the completion of the portion of the River Mountain Loop Trail connecting Boulder City and Henderson. Another three people brought their bicycles on the train, then rode the 5 kilometers back to the Southern Nevada Railway depot.

The section connecting Railroad Pass to the Nevada State Veterans Home, was completed last month and now allows hikers and bicyclists to ride from Lake Las Vegas in Henderson through Boulder City and around Lake Mead with only a brief interruption around Industrial Road and U.S. 93, said Gary Zupanic the engineering technician overseeing the Boulder City portion of the project. That portion should be complete by year’s end, he said.

The entire 34.5-mile River Mountain Loop Trail is scheduled to be completed by next October.

The Boulder City Chamber of Commerce sponsored the 5K walk, bike, run and stroll Oct. 17 to mark the completion of a portion called significant by John Holman, chairman of the River Mountain Loop Trail Partnership.

Awards were given to the top three finishers of the run: Jeannine Spicer, first place; Valerie McNay, second place; and Lee Schultz, third place.

Please join us tomorrow for a lovely picnic at Lower Equestrian Park. We will have a few activities for the kids and distribute information about the RMLT.

Choose your own adventure and enjoy the trail from 8:00-11:00 am. Let us know what your favorite part of the RMLT is. What do you enjoy most about the trail?

Sorry to be negative but I don't know how we can celebrate something that is not functioning properly. Tires are flattening from the large gaps. It is throughout the entire RMT with the exception of the new part of the RMT on the Boulder City. This was once an awesome trail.

In 2003 I remember riding the three sisters from the dirt lot on Lake Mead to the end which was around 3 miles.
