Summerlin Wins National Trails Award 2008 – American Trails

The reason I’m inlcuding this in my BLOG is this brings national attention to Las Vegas, NV. and our developing trail systems.  A big ATTA Boy to Howard Hughes Corporation, keep up the good work.

The following is an excerpt from American Trails announcement of the winners:

2008 DEVELOPER AWARD WINNERS

The first ever American Trails Developer Awards were given to three American communities at the 2008 National Trails Symposium. American Trails has developed this comprehensive national award program to recognize quality, well designed multi-use trails systems that are integrated into private developments. The program is the only one of its kind in the nation. The American Trails Developer Award program award was established by American Trails because of the important role of developers as partners in providing access to trails from the doorsteps of American homes. Trails are increasingly popular within planned developments. In surveys conducted by the National Association of Homebuilders, trails are the number one community amenity desired by prospective homebuyers.

The following communities were selected from across the nation to serve as fitting models for excellence in trails within a private development:

  • Summerlin by Howard Hughes Corporation, General Growth Properties

Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, Summerlin is a 22,500 acre planned community accommodating 95,000 residents. The development includes over 150 miles of trails within its comprehensive trails network. Summerlin’s extensive system of trails connects into the public trails network and includes a significant regional trail corridor running through the community. Eighty nine percent of residents cite Summerlin’s walking trails as the most important community amenity. For more information on this development visit www.summerlin.com.

They're doing water main construction. I live near there and was notified about the project.

Probably dropping construction materials to one of those mega mansions in the hill

Looks like a recovery or a rescue. Its been happening for a couple of hours.
