Frequently Asked Questions About This Year Trail Clean Up
Click on the Question to go to the Answer

Why are we cleaning up the trail area before the trail is built?
When will the trail be built in this area?
When will Equestrian Park be finished?
What should I bring to the trail clean up?

Are there laws against desert dumping?

Answer.  We found out the hard way about trail clean ups.  During our 2001 clean up, we built the trail first and then scheduled a clean up after it was finished.  What happen was during our construction program the under construction trail led to a HUGH increase in desert dumping.    We took four 28 yard dumpsters of new garbage out of the area.

We hope we will have less garbage pick up if we clean the area before the trail goes through. Then block the desert dumpsters with trail gates and trail fences.

Answer. The trail in this area should be finished by the end of next summer (2003). The three segments of the trail we are cleaning today are currently in design by Boels Engineering.  We hope to have the design finished by the 1st quarter of 2003, with the trail finished by the end of summer.

AnswerEquestrian Park is being built in three phases.  First phase has been built.  You will find a small parking lot, some planted grass and trees. Future phases include a bathroom, drinking water, horse loading/off loading trailer ramps, exercise rings (the figure 8 looking graded area), shade structures and an extension to our trail - the River Mountains Loop Trail.  The River Mountains Loop Trail has added one of our seven trail kiosks to Equestrian Park.  Check it out.

Answer.  All you have to do is come prepared for a morning in the sun, maybe some work or gardening gloves, a water bottle and clothing that will protect you from desert bushes.  We hope to see you there!

Answer.  Yes there are laws against desert dumping.  Follow this link to a brochure our volunteers produced last year.  It has phone numbers to report illegal dumping.   How to Report Desert Dumping
